And the old/young (this can be relative whilst being 21) fan is here too :).

So Mr OmegaDragon/Rekaju/ (how you call yourself now ? xP):

I know it's boring to remind all the stories about your previous 3 (or 4) forums we were writing supporting you (and some of us even helping the development), so i'll leave it in peace.

It's nice to see you improved over the years. Your Adregalus homepage become professional and made use of social media which is becoming quite a standard right now. Your art is better and better. I thought there is no possibility to improve that, but you did that.

And another Drakojan Skies being developed! You're never bored by them I see, but I'm not too :).

If you mind to answer some questions here they are:

* Have you any plans (or dreams) of making Drakojans for Windows Phone?

* I never knew that you can make such a nice web page and forum using Wordpress. For me many pages made on that framework looked quite generic, but you turned it into masterpiece. Did you put much effort to achieve this? Was it mainly graphic or coding job? Would you recommend it if you were to? This is asked because I'm thinking into rewriting my own homepage (which is made from scratch) to some system like that.

Good luck and have fun in everything you do.

bOdziO Wolf!! Welcome back! :D It’s great to hear from one of the original members of the older forums again! I can’t believe it’s been 6-7 years ago since the first forums went up.

First of all, thanks for the compliments. :]

* Have you any plans (or dreams) of making Drakojans for Windows Phone?

The recent DS game was originally planned to be designed in a team of three, and released for iPhones at the iTunes AppStore for $0.99. However, it was ultimately decided that the project was too large, and there were many uncertainties for it to be our first iPhone release. Thus, it went back to being a free-to-play Flash game, just as the rest.

After ten years it’s safe to say that Adregalus is, has been, and most likely always will be a non-profit hobby project of mine, and anyone else who wishes to collaborate on their own free time.

* Wordpress

While I did most of the graphics with the assistance of one of our admins, Chris, everything related to wordpress was the result of the brilliant work of another one of our admins: Oli, who basically programmed and set everything up. Without his expertise, none of this would be possible, and we’d be still using the old site. I’ll be sure to pass along the compliments. :]

Cheers!

Development for iPhone seems to be quite a pain, as you're able to do it alone using Flash and not able to built that with 3 people on iOS. I never programmed on Apple devices, but am doing it on Windows Phone which is quite easy for me so this might be quite odd for me.

On the other side, you wrote that it would be your first release. I can suggest making something easier to just get familiar with the code, submission and promotion process etc. because it's quite a big pack of knowledge at first to learn.

But if you will look for developer or just for some help concerning WP development you can write me. I'm especially interested in 3d arcade simulators development and have some plans and dreams about that :).

Excellent points. The reason why the team won’t develop any Windows Phone games at this time, is simply because the majority of us own iPhones and iPads. We'll see what happens in the future, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Right now the team is busy with other projects.

How is the Windows Phone development process? Is the programming language comparable to flash Actionscript/C++/Java? I was thinking about switching from iPhone to something else in a few months, but I’m not sure which one best rivals the iPhone.

Thanks for the offer concerning WP development. :]

3D arcade simulators as in Racing/Flight Games, or virtual reality?

I love oldschool 16-bit arcade machines, and hope of one day making a game which could pass as something which could have existed around the 90’s, when arcades were still big.

They got some pretty sweet and affordable arcade cabinets for PCs over at: http://www.recroommasters.com/…..efault.asp .

If the upcoming DS game turns out to be pretty decent, I’ll have to assemble a cheap PC, get an arcade cabinet, design and print large cabinet/marquee stickers and upload tons of photos. :P

Sorry for long response delay. Exams and lighting fast development for Windows Phone competition consumed me for almost 2 weeks :).

It's good you came back to your previous idea for developing DS on mobile platforms! It takes time, but it's extremely  rewarding and sometimes profitable at the end.

I found it quite easy. Especially for games.

You have several ways for developing apps on WP:

  • Silverlight – VERY similar to flash in designing the user interface, graphics and animations, but much better in performance and logic programming. Best for regular apps and simple games. Awesome when you want to do something simple, but useful and good-looking.
  • XNA – Enables advanced 2d and 3d graphics for making more complex games. A bit harder to use, but gives you to develop virtually any game with best performance. It's like DirectX without memory leaks and with a lots of helping methods. It has also another profit – you can easily port your game to PC and Xbox360!
  • PhoneGap – Allows you to build one app for all smartphones using only one language – JavaScript. Unlike HTML5/JS approach it gives you access to phone functions
  • HTML5/JavaScript (but i don't know you can count it as an app and if it's submittable to marketplace)

So if you'd like to make DS on WP7 I would recommend XNA.

3D flight simulators of course. I must say I'd like to see your game in such form, but that's maybe too much of a dream :)

That's a great idea!

Excellent! Thanks for the advice. :D

After DS, I might check out those developing apps, and switch from Flash over to something else.
