:: Ancient City
Built (estimated) 25.000 years ago by an unknown Ethonian tribe, this ancient city is made of multiple rings of roads, tall pyramids, patches of gardens & trees, and water pools. Built at a perfect spot at the planet's equator, this city has four long, straight roads running through the entire plateau, leading true North, West, South and East. The diameter of the last ring can be calculated, through a string of equations, to represent that of Ethonia's diameter.

The site was designed to represent the Uraus solar system on a small scale, with each pyramid being named after a planet, including the "Pyramid of the Sun", which is positioned directly in the middle of the city. All pyramids have the same amount of steps (once multiplied by every side of the structure), as their representing planet has for days in one orbit around the sun (one year).

Although the original intent of the city has been lost to history, the Ethonian people living there now are the "Saleya", a large hunter-gatherer tribe who study and worship the stars. They are said to be the descendants of the ancient culture who had built the site, yet they have no recorded history proving this as fact. Even though they may not be as advanced as the previous, original occupants of the city, the Saleya have seen to it, to keep the site well preserved through many restorations. Nearly all pyramids have chambers and galleries within them, which the tribe use for ceremonial or community council purposes.

Legends say, that the people who built this city were one of the first Ethonian tribes, and were in direct contact with ancient space-faring pioneers, who had taught them the art of astronomy and technology. Signs of highly advanced craftsmanship can be easily found here, all pointing to a strong technologically developed culture.

The exact demise of this ancient culture is disputed. It is as if the people had suddenly vanished, leaving behind this giant model of the Uraeus Solar System. The Akeshi believe the people had lost their ways, and were forced to leave their lands due to bad crops, disease and bad leadership. The Ethonian Saleya tribe, however, believe that the people were taken to the skies by the gods.

No exact history of this unknown civilization has been found, and the sudden disappearance of this culture is still a deep mystery. The only things which remain is this ancient city and many inscriptions of stories, telling the tale of the ancient people's simple daily lives.

An even bigger mystery are the coordinates of the pyramids representing planets. Humans have calculated the trajectories and orbits of the planets in the Uraeus Solar System, and have discovered that the positions of the planets, as represented in the city, match up perfectly with their real counterparts, exactly 175.000 years ago, before any records of Ethonian life.

:: Pyramids
Each pyramid represents a planet of the Uraeus Solar System, with one pyramid representing the sun.
Listed below are all 14 pyramids of the ancient city, including their names, and other important aspects.

For planetary reference, visit the "Uraeus Solar System" page.

Pyramid of the Sun
Positioned directly in the middle of the ancient city lies the Pyramid of the Sun. Designed to stand out from the rest of the pyramids, it is not only the biggest, but its tip is covered in a removable golden pyramid-shaped tip. Originally, a cylindrical metallic construct was resting on top of the pyramid. Within it was a large, precisely crafted lens. It is believed to have been used to look upwards towards the stars, for underneath this cylinder is a very deep tunnel which runs down the middle of the pyramid, leading to a large chamber. From there, the tunnel continues downward to a massive underground maze of caves deep below the city.

The purpose of this underground network is not yet fully known, buy legends say that there could be hundreds of mirrors scattered in strategic positions underneath the city. If the sun were to shine directly above the Pyramid of the Sun, its rays would shoot down the pyramid, enter the caves, reflect off the mirrors, and be sent to the other pyramids, which also have tunnels leading to the top. From them, rays of light would shine forth, causing a powerful display of lights coming from all 14 pyramids, aiming directly at the skies.

For whatever reasons, this theory cannot be backed up, for no rays of light have yet to be seen at the city.

Hanging high within one of the largest galleries of the great Pyramid of the Sun, are many large Y-shaped, golden metallic constructs. A musician (traditionally a flute player) may sit near the top of the gallery and play various tunes and sounds which will cause the metals to resonate powerful low frequency tones. It is said that these vibrations can be felt across the lands, helping people to meditate, to focus, and for the pyramid to even produce slight amounts of energy. The Akeshi believe this is the most accurate use of the great gallery, since they have used similar techniques to help enhance the growth of their crops and to help Shamans enter a deep trance like state.

Pyramid of Lio
The closest pyramid to the one resting in the middle of the city. Its chambers now serve as resting quarters for pilgrims and other visitors who may visit the great city. Originally, the pyramid may have been created for simple rituals regarding the planet Lio, and nothing more.

Pyramid of Keyachai
Resting on a road made of red bricks, this pyramid represents the fiery world of Keyachai. Rituals are held here, honoring the planet and its hot characteristics. During a specific day of the year, a ritualistic walk is held on the "Road of Fire". During this day, the four main pillars located on each of the four sides of the pyramid are lit with torches, or used to burn incense.

The four towering pillars are constructed with many large intersecting pieces, resembling that of a large puzzle, clearly signs of advanced craftsmanship. (similar to that found at South America's "Puma Punku".)

Pyramid of Archanai
Made of multiple layers of cylindrical shaped platforms, the pyramid of Archanai is surrounded by tall statues representing not only the planet's rings, but also wise men. Who they are, is unknown.

Pyramid of Ethonia
Nearly identical to the pyramid of Archanai, these two buildings are painted in green and blue colors, representing the water to land mass ratio of the planet. The bottom most cylindrical platforms of both structures can be calculated to match the diameter of their corresponding planets. The Saleya use this pyramid as council halls for the chief elders, who also rest and live here.

Between the pyramids of Ethonia and Archanai is the "Pool of Life", a large ring of water, which reflects the life giving ingredients both planets share. It also serves the Saleya as a fresh water source.

Pyramid of Shaba
Positioned on a road of blue stones is the pyramid of Shaba, the water/ice planet. Strange sounds can be heard resonating from within the pyramid, suggesting some kind of mechanical construction, which provides the city with fresh water. This theory is often questioned, but none have yet to come up with any solid theories proving otherwise.

Tower of Unas
Due to the oblate shape of the former gas giant, this building is less a pyramid and is more of a tower. Comprised of puzzle-like stone pieces (similar to that found at South America's "Puma Punku"), which intersect with one another, the tower of Unas is built from diorite, the second strongest stone second only to diamond. In order to cut the stone pieces as perfectly as the ancients had done requires the use of a powerful, mechanical diamond cutter. How the ancient people managed to build this tower remains a complete mystery.

The inside of this tower is hollow, with open "windows" located at every story. It is as if the building were a representation of a modern day sky-scraper.

The fact alone that the ancients knew about the shape of the gas giant Unas, millions (if not billions) of years after it had exploded, sends chills down the spine of Ethonian historians and archaeologists.

Pyramid of Eyut
The Pyramid of Eyut, the largest of all planet pyramids, rests on the "Mirror Road", a road made from a solid polished, shiny, reflective substance. Humans have discovered the substance is glass-like in structure, and contains 70% of amorphous materials. Such substances is created when raw material is cooled after long exposure to extreme heat. When asked where this material originated, the Saleya believe it was gathered from a spot, from which the gods ascended into the skies in their blazing vehicles.

This road is used for a spiritual walk, to help one "see into yourself".

Pyramid of I'achatti
Honoring the planet's electrical and magnetic attributes, the pyramid has an outer layer comprised of gallium arsenide, which acts as a semiconductor for electrical currents. On Earth, such materials are used to manufacture various circuit boards, infrared LED's, solar panel cells, and more.

On the upper section of the pyramid are multiple metal rods. Once a lightning storm strikes the tip of the pyramid, electrical energies can be seen dancing from one rod to another, in an amusing display of light.

Pyramid of Saka' Shiba
Surrounded by a small ring of water, representing the planet's ice rings, the pyramid of Saka'Shiba was built with three different types of stone.

Pyramid of Chaikela
Build out of bricks, this pyramid is painted in yellows, oranges and greens, representing the colors of the various chemical compounds of the planet.

Pyramid of Inasa
The tip of the pyramid is covered in lime-stone, which reflects the sun's light, causing it to sparkle as a pearl, for which the ice planet was named after.

Pyramid of Anasaek
Built out of colorful blue and green blocks, representing the planet's chemical composition, this pyramid is mostly solid, with only 1 chamber. Most other pyramids contain multiple chambers, tunnels and galleries.

Tower of Lanos
Practically identical to the tower of Unas, the only difference is this tower's smaller scale.

:: Mysterious Shrine
Located North East of the giant city, is an artificially created wall on a rocky terrain. Protecting this wall is a shrine-like building, with a hall of pillars leading towards it, and a roof made of giant megalithic stones. On this wall are various descriptions, to what some have deciphered as warnings of danger to those who use technologies. This shrine is rumored to be younger than the great city.

Ethonians believe that this shrine may hold the truth to the culture who had originally built the great city, and suddenly disappeared from existence. On the wall is a carving of a humanoid form facing forwards. It's eyes are hollow tunnels which lead into the unknown.

The humanoid depicted on the wall is the "Seer of Truth", and the Saleya visit this shrine for ritualistic purposes. In time, the truth would reveal itself, according to legend. A chieftain would stand in front of this carving, place his/her head against the wall, and stare into its two eyes. This is done to ask the heavenly teachers to return and bring enlightenment to the Ethonian people, so that they may see the truth in all things.

The human explorers were granted permission to send robotic probes down the eyes of this ancient carving. What they have found, convinced the Saleya to adapt to the human culture, changing theirs forever.
