Ethonians,
or "Edreyu" in their native tongue, are bipedal
humanoid beings who have roughly the exact same
size and proportions as humans. Their skin is usually
covered in a textured pattern (tiger stripes, leopard
spots). The
facial appearance is slightly elegant with a hint
of a shorter, thicker nose which is connected to
the upper lip, looking almost a bit feline. Ethonians
possess a superior body structure and improved overall
health. They are rarely ever sick or have any
kind of diseases whatsoever.
:: Social Organization
Ethonians share a similar social and political structure
as the Akeshi. (refer to
the Akeshi page for more information)
The Ethonians honor the Akeshi with the utmost respect. In early times, before the human colonies and settlers, the Ethonians would be visited once a year by a small group of Akeshi.
They would bring gifts of food, clothing and various
tools. What they truly come for, however, is to
bring something far more valuable: knowledge.
For an entire month, the small group of Akeshi would
personally teach schools of Ethonian children the
art of mathematics, astronomy, agriculture, and
other knowledge which would help them live a peaceful
and cooperative life with all beings on the planet.
For adults, the Akeshi would bring words of enlightenment, tales and stories which contain messages and wisdom passed on from ancient times. Chieftains and leaders would listen and learn ways to better help their tribe. Common folk would listen and learn ways of being a better person, to settle disputes, and live a healthier, more conscious life.
A person may even ask one of the visiting Akeshi individually for direct advice on specific issues, or seek any other advice one may have to better one's daily ritual.
This yearly event was interrupted by the humans who brought gifts of technology. As Ethonians learned the ways of the humans, they decided to grow independent of the Akeshi, and thus began the slow but unstoppable destruction of an ancient tradition and culture.

Meeting The Humans
Ethonians have lived on Ethonia for thousands of
years, passing on their tribal heritage down for
generations. There were no highly advanced Ethonian
civilizations before the humans came, except for
one large community, the “Saleya”, who
had giant temples, palaces and courtyards which
thrived in peace and harmony within nature and other
fellow tribes. The
Ethonians believe that their ancestors were given
culture by the Drakojans (Akeshi), who received
all their knowledge from the teachers who came down
from the heavens in their roaring chariots.
When mankind first landed
on the planet with their shuttle (Entdeckung I),
Ethonians believed the teachers had returned,
only to find out they were wrong. Regardless,
the humans were greeted with open arms and were
treated quite well. The first contact with humans
changed the lives of many Ethonians. Some didn’t
want to part ways of their ancestors and decided
to continue to follow their traditional heritages,
elsewhere, away from modern civilization.

Mankind’s Influence – Monarchies
Mankind had a most profound impact on the Ethonians
during first contact. Seeing how the humans were
so advanced to be able to travel across the stars
and land on Ethonia, made the Ethonians very curious
in us. The more they learned about human technology,
the more they wanted to be as technologically
advanced as us. The Ethonians slowly began to
adapt to our way of life, and pretty soon they
had plans to build kingdoms.
As
the first Ethonian monarchy ever to be established,
the Marathe are Ethonia’s most powerful
and respected royal family.
Marathe
was an elder of the “Saleya” tribe
who wanted to work with the humans (GTO) during
the first years when mankind first traded culture
with the Ethonians. Being inspired by the human
ways of politics and government, the elder Marathe
decided the tribe should form a kingdom and thus
take the first steps into a brave new world for
Ethonia; a future in which both man and ethonian
would work together for the benefit of both worlds.
“Drazaek”,
a follow elder and friend of Marathe feared any
change to that of the old ways and suggested strongly
against it. They both stood firmly to their beliefs
until the council decided that the two of them
should fight for supremacy in an old ritualistic
Ethonian ceremony to determine the ultimate course
of action. Whoever would win would decide the
future of the Saleya tribe. Marathe won, and Drazaek
was disgraced as he fled the country to form his
own tribe and live by the old ways.
Marathe
was crowned ruler of the first Ethonian royal
family and thus formed a cooperative friendship
with the humans as both planets celebrated a bright
new future, and a new direction for our worlds.

Rite Of Passage – Searching The Stars
Ethonians see mankind’s arrival as a sign
of taking the first step into a new age
and a new era for their people. They believe that
participating in the human’s journey to
discover the truth of our origins is a rite of
passage for them, a task they must take to proceed
to the next step of their species’ evolution.
:: Carol Anna Virus
The "CA-Virus" is much less an actual
virus, but more of a very rare genetic defect which
exists only in the offspring between an Ethonian
and a human. Ethonians born with the "CA-Virus"
have a small amount of human genes in them, which
fail to adapt to their native genes. This may cause
alterations in their physical appearance, making
them look either Ethonian or human (in some cases,
a mixture of both) depending on which species they
are exposed to the most, during the first few hours
of their lives. This physical alteration takes only
a few years, until the process is completed. Health
related issues may include chronic internal organ
diseases, which can be pre-determined via blood
sample at a very early age. It was categorized as
a 'virus' by the Marathe Monarchy as to keep the
secret of their bloodline hidden.
