Anomalies
First encountered in a salvaged, long lost space faring exploration shuttle, the GSA “Forschung”, the true origins and purpose of these so called “Anomalies” continue to remain a complete mystery. The only information gathered on these pulsating, volley-ball-sized orbs of light are from a handful of video recordings and eye witness testimonies.

While many classify these orbs as nothing more than atmospheric disturbances, hallucinations or simply a malfunction within the recording devices, people who have encountered them claim they are anything but.
Theories suggest that these orbs are artificially created and controlled extra-dimensional distortions, designed to locate and harvest the energies stored within living organisms in our plane of existence.
People who encountered them recall being surrounded by a blinding light, only to lose consciousness and awaken hours later completely drained of any and all strength. While these effects are only temporary, the dangers of coming into contact with these orbs, and losing consciousness in an unsafe work environment have been known to cost a few lives.
The most harmless report came from a researcher who experienced a close encounter with such an orb for a brief moment. He described them as being “intelligent, curious, and observant.”
The Plague
A far more disturbing aspect of these lights is the rumor of them converging into one large mass, powerful enough to punch a hole between dimensions. From these rifts emerge deranged, hostile beings with abilities which defy all known forms physics. Some have been said to pass through solid matter, while others seem to appear at two locations at the same time. No video evidence of these aggressive and dangerous beings is known to exist.

The exact relationship between the creatures and the anomalies remain unknown.
According to Akeshi lore, the orbs of light are little more than a plague upon the living, which must be dealt with as quickly as possible. While the Akeshi encountered these anomalies only once before in ancient times, they are still uncertain as to how they exactly managed to defend themselves.
Due to the highly evolved and developed nature of the Akeshi species, they are not only considered the primary prey for these orbs, but are also the only living beings in recorded history capable of confronting them.
